ANNAPOLIS, Md. — On May 25, vaccinated Maryland residents will have the chance to win $40,000 from the Maryland Lottery.

Drawings will be held once daily through July 3.

That’s 40 drawings over 40 days for the chance to win $40,000 each day.

On the 4th of July a final drawing will be held for a grand prize of $400,000.

Anyone 18 and older who has already received at least one dose or gets one during that time period is automatically entered and eligible to win.

Winners will be selected through a computer program that randomly picks a number that the Maryland Department of Health assigns to each person vaccinated.

Each day, the department will let the lottery know the total number of residents who got vaccinated so they can be added to the eligibility list.

Winners will be contacted by the Department of Health, who will send a “$2 Million VaxCash Promotion Authorization Form” to be signed and returned.

"Remember Maryland—get your shot for a shot to win,” said Governor Larry Hogan.

The $2 million in prize money is being funded through the Maryland Lottery's Marketing Fund.

As of Thursday -- 3,066,993 residents have received their first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine in addition to 220,840 who received a single dose of Johnson & Johnson.
