ESSEX, Md. — WMAR-2 News is committed to improving the lives of Veterans in Maryland by shining a light on their stories, struggles and triumphs. Every week a local veteran will be featured in our Veteran Spotlight contest.

This week we are honoring Jason Ament of Essex, who served in the United States Marine Corps for four years as an Infantry Squad Leader. His home base was in Hawaii, but Ament also spent time serving in Japan and Australia.

Ament now works for Iacoboni Construction and is a loving husband to his wife, Shannon, and a proud father of two sons, Caleb and Blake. He also has three rescue dogs: Reese, Flick and Dolly.

Thank you for your service to our country and dedication to the community.
