GLEN BURNIE, Md. — WMAR-2 News is committed to improving the lives of Veterans in Maryland by giving light to their stories, struggles and triumphs. Every week a local veteran will be featured in our Veteran Spotlight contest.
This week we are honoring Matthew Peeling of Glen Burnie, who served in the U.S. Army as a Medical Specialist and Combat Medic.
He was injured in an accident and lost his ability to walk, but he did not lose his ability to fight and lead. Peeling is now president of the Colonial Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
He also has a Master's Degree in Business Administration and is Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer for Sheppard Pratt Community Services, which is Maryland's largest community provider of behavioral health services and affiliate of the Sheppard Pratt.
In addition to what's above, Peeling developed the Heart Program that provides training and educational opportunities and is also active in Wreaths Across America.
Thank you for your service to our country and dedication to helping fellow veterans.
