Lots of rain....

Last year, we picked up over 57 inches of rain-- and that was enough to put us in the 5 wettest in the last 100 years! The year was propelled into this category after near record breaking rainfall in August, where we picked up nearly 12 inches! We don't have to look back far to the wettest year---that occurred in 2018, where BWI reported nearly 72 inches!

As far as January is concerned-- we should theoretically experience our coldest temperatures this month. Average morning lows fall to its lowest number: 24° by the middle of the month. Average afternoon highs only fluctuate a degree all month! In an average year, we SHOULD pick up twice more snow than rain, with rain totals averaging just over 3 inches, and snow totals near 7.

The good news-- no snow or rain for Saturday! Temperatures will run 10-15° above average with plenty of sunshine.... EASILY making Saturday the weekend winner! We can thank the sunshine and breezy westerly winds for the warm-up. Unfortunately we will not stay dry all weekend. Another low pressure system will approach the area Sunday and it looks like we'll see more rain, (and some wintry mix north and west of the city). Temperatures will struggle to reach the mid 40s.

Drier weather returns as we head back to work next week.
