It wasn't that long ago.... but a series of interesting meteorological events lead to the generation of multiple clusters of showers and storms passing over the same area and dumping between 6 and 12 inches of rain in roughly 3 hours! This rain impacted multiple areas including Ellicott City and Catonsville.
The large red shaded area, are areas that were estimated to have received 6.5 inches or more, while the white/grey areas near and southwest of Old Town Ellicott City as well as across the river toward Catonsville received an estimated 9 inches or more.
There was catastrophic damage to Historic Ellicot City. One fatality was reported from this event, occurring when Eddison Hermond died after helping a woman who was in need of assistance after the first round of showers and storms.
