Sometimes natural disasters can be the setting of incredible stress. Or incredible compassion.

Pam Brekke lives 30 minutes from Orlando, a city right smack dab in the middle of the path of Hurrican Irma. She, like many, was trying to purchase an emergency generator to keep power going for her father who cannot survive without an oxygen machine.

She drove to a Lowe's location in Orlando. The last generator at that store was taken off the shelves by other customers - as she watched.

Ramon Santiago, who had one of those generators, watched a tearful Brekke. He gave her his generator.

The video above, from NBC's TODAY Show, describes the story.

As a follow-up, the station that covered the story initially - WFTV-TV - took it upon themselves to make sure Santiago got a generator himself.
