It has been feeling cold and gusty lately with wind chills struggling to get out of the 20s and 30s at times. Good news...a warming trend will occur Thursday afternoon and we can give high pressure a big round of applause!
A ridge of high pressure will build eastward into the region Thursday through the early parts of the weekend, providing more sunshine and a shift in our winds. As high pressure will move offshore of the Mid-Atlantic Friday, which will yield a more southerly wind flow, thus bringing some warmer air back to Maryland!
The average seasonal high temperature for Thursday at BWI is 47° and model guidance indicates that most spots across central Maryland will be in the upper-40s and low-50s. That southerly wind will allow temperatures to increase Friday afternoon...we look to top out around 10° above normal for this time of year! We are not the only ones who are going to be feeling a change in the temperature department... our friends to the south could be seeing temperatures around 10-15° above average!
The warmth won't last forever as we have a cool down on the horizon.
