After an awesome stretch of warm weather this week, a chilly change is just around the corner. Friday is when all the changes begin. We'll have a chance of a wintry mix with accumulating snow north of Maryland in southern Pennsylvania. Some mixed snow showers will be possible Friday morning in the Baltimore area but after 3 straight days near 70°, the ground will be too warm for the snow to stick.
The Weekend Storm
The weekend storm is expected to make landfall Thursday night - Friday morning on the west coast. Once that occurs, our weather balloons will be able to gather more reliable data from the atmosphere, which is placed in our forecast models. This will GREATLY improve the forecast of the track and intensity of this system. Currently, the storm is in the Pacific Ocean and has a long way to go before reaching our neck of the woods.
Tuesday Looks Interesting
Tuesday is also a day to follow for next week. A couple of the models I've been following have been showing a storm system interacting with a cold air mass around the Mid-Atlantic. Depending on the timing of these features will determine if we can land some accumulating snowfall out of it. This makes three chances of seeing some snow from Friday to Tuesday. We'll continue to keep you updated on the latest.
