Just when we were starting to warm up a few degrees, we get pushed backed down. Normal temperatures for this time of year are in the low 70s, but thanks to a cold front Monday morning we will struggle to reach the upper 50s! That is about 15 degrees cooler than normal. The cold air continues to flow in Monday night that we could see frost and freeze watches issued for the area.
The front does not bring just cold air though. Look for a few early morning showers (between 4 and 9AM) on Monday. When the rain is over, welcome the wind. Wind will be rushing in out of the northwest at 15-25 mph with gusts near 30 mph. The high winds will last for 2 days. You know what wind does to the skin on a cool day right? It will make us feel about 3-5 degrees cooler than what the already cold thermometer is reading. The highest winds should come in on Monday around 4PM.
The cold air does have an end in sight. A huge area of high pressure starts to build in by Friday, and it looks to stay for a while. This will send all storm systems to the north as we pull in warm, moist air from the south. Temperatures will climb into the low 80s beginning this Friday and it should last all next week. That is 10 degrees warmer than normal! It will be very sticky though, thus leading to scattered storms each day. So you have a few days to order those backyard inflatable pools before the major heat arrives. You can still get work done from home while lounging in refreshing cold water, right?
