Have you noticed lately that the days are getting longer? Well it's not a fluke.

The amount of daylight this time of year increases as we work our way toward the Summer solstice. Take today for instance our sunrise started the day at 5:59am and sunset ends the day at 8:06pm. If you add those two together that gives us 14 hours 6 mins and 39 seconds of daylight. Once we get to June 2nd that number increases to 14 hours 46 minutes and 18 seconds. The longest days of the year though are on June 19th and June 20th when the Summer solstice occurs. This is when the sun is over the Tropic of Cancer. The daylight on both of these days is 14 hours 56 mins and 18 seconds with sunset times right around 8:36pm. The longest sunset though comes shortly after that though on June 27th and June 28th at 8:37pm.

The next time we will see a sunset before 8pm will be August 16th. Just think of it this way we have 95 days of great patio nights and barbecue with family and friends.
