The Autumn equinox will occur in a few hours, yet mother nature is still pretending it is Summer. Temperatures for the entire first week of Fall will be above average. It looks like the entire 2nd week of Fall will remain hot as well... about 15 degrees warmer than normal (don't rush to buy your kids boots with the fur; it doesn't look like they will be wearing them soon). During these next 14 days we have also developed a dry pattern. Usually we see about 0.14" of rain a day this time of year, but with so much sunshine we are in a deficit for the month and year. It's not by much, since January we are in hole 3.50". So we are abnormally dry, but the forecast does change looking out in the next 3 weeks. We are saved from a drought forming with increased rain activity arriving in mid-October. When it rains, it pours. The next 3 months will see more rainfall than normal. Notice I said more RAIN, not SNOW... the showers still arrive with warmer than normal temperatures. In other words, you need rain boots, but can skip the furry socks to wear inside them. Happy Fall!
