A Flash Flood Watch is in place for Harford, Anne Arundel, Cecil, Carroll, Howard, Baltimore, Baltimore City, Kent, Caroline, Queen Anne's, Talbot, Frederick, Allegany, Garrett, Washington, Montgomery, and Prince Georges counties until late Friday evening. A watch means that conditions a favorable for flash flooding especially with 1-2"+ of additional rain in the forecast for tonight-Sunday.
A cold front continues to straddle the area to our north with an area of low pressure to our south kicking up several rounds of showers and thunderstorms. This front and area of low pressure will act as a lifting mechanism to squeeze the atmosphere out above as tropical moisture lurks overhead.
The worst of the rain looks to come in tonight with the best chance of flash flooding throughout the evening and overnight period Saturday.
Low pressure will move toward the frontal boundary Sunday giving us great lift with plenty of moisture which looks to gives us additional problems Sunday. Models continue to hint on a on again off again rain with heavy bands pushing onshore from west to east.
The time is now to think about your flooding precautions. If you live in a low lying area remember to seek higher ground when a warning is issued. Never drive through high water since you may not know what is underneath of it or in it. The old saying "Remember Turn Around Don't Drown." A common saying that oh so many do not listen too. Please do not take it for granted since these situations look to change very quickly.
Dry times and sunshine finally look to return to our forecast next week. Cooler temps as well to give those air conditioners a break with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
