Iota has lost its tropical characteristics and has become a remnant low. It continues westward around 12 mph and will likely continue on this track throughout the rest of today and into Thursday.
Even though Iota became a remnant low this morning, the impacts are not over just yet. Heavy rain continues to be a threat over portions of Guatemala, Honduras, and southern Belize through Thursday. Additional rainfall amounts may add up to 4-8" with isolated amounts of 12" possible. El Salvador and Nicaragua will get in on some of the additional rainfall as well, with 2-6" possible.
Given how saturated much of Central America is, flash flooding, river flooding, and even the threat of mudslides are possible across higher elevations. Our hearts go out to those impacted by Iota.
