Well, we have a warmer Wednesday on tap! Temperatures will be the BIG story for today as we will be about 10-15° above normal! High temperatures will reach the upper-50s and the lower-60s across central Maryland. We typically see temperatures like this in late-March and early-April! Did I mention that there will be a plethora of sunshine today? Soak it up and get that vitamin D!
High pressure builds in across the southeast today, not only advecting warmer air into the Mid-Atlantic region, BUT you can expect gusty southwest winds later today. Winds will increase through the afternoon and look to peak this evening. It won't feel as gusty as yesterday but wind gusts will range anywhere from 30-35 mph or even greater across higher terrain!
A weak cold front will move in from the Great Lakes region this evening...so clouds will increase from west to east and a brief quick-hitting rain shower/sprinkle is possible across north-central Maryland but the bulk of the moisture will be focused across western Maryland. It looks like the energy fizzles out as the front passes through so rainfall totals will be insignificant.
Skies will gradually clear in the wake of the cold front passing off to our east and winds will relax into Thursday morning as a bubble of high pressure builds in over the Mississippi Valley. A more unsettled weather pattern is in store for the upcoming weekend...
