Much needed rain is back in the forecast for much of Central Maryland come Sunday. Now it may not be a lot but at this point we will take any little bit to cure the moderate drought concerns across the area. Many locations are running 1-1.5" half below average. The last time we hit 1" of rainfall on a given day was more than 2 months ago back on November 7th.
Sunday's rain will not amount to an 1" but should at least take a decent chunk out of the deficit. Many locations look to pick up anywhere between 0.25"-0.5" with localized heavier pockets along the Eastern Shore. Western Maryland should see between 0.10"-0.25" while the southern part of the state near Ocean City wins out with nearly 1" of rainfall since the front will hang around a bit longer.
Rain should start to move in before midnight and carry us through the morning hours. Umbrellas will be needed for Sunday morning mass before showers slowly start to taper midday Sunday and into the early evening hours across much of the Eastern Shore.
Flooding is not expected at this time nor any severe weather. Temperatures look to hang steady in the low to mid 50s before a steady fall late in the evening hours as the colder air rushes back in come Monday.
Don't forget the umbrellas and remember to slow it down out there to avoid any hydroplaning concerns. Once again we are looking at rain and not snow. Wintry weather does return in our forecast come Tuesday so stay tuned.
