I know there is plenty of rain in the forecast this weekend BUT look at the bright side... temperatures will be ABOVE NORMAL! The normal high for this time of year is 48 degrees at BWI and temperatures will be around 10 degrees warmer this afternoon (which is where they normally are around late-March). Winds will veer out of the west-southwest throughout the day which will draw in warmer air to the Mid-Atlantic region. Wind direction is very important because a westerly wind will allow for a down-sloping component off the Allegany front...which ultimately helps the air warm up as it travels towards the surface! The southwesterly flow aloft will linger into Sunday, thus, keeping temperatures above average, in the low to mid-50s.
We start off above normal in the temperature department thanks to elevated west-northwest winds... but as winds shift out of the north into Tuesday, cooler air will keep temperatures below normal, in the mid-40s. Temperatures will bounce back into the 50s by the middle of next week!
