The mercury is rising....

Posted
and last updated

Once again, we'll flirt with record highs! Yesterday we tied the 96 degree record set back in 2002 and today we may do it again.

The forecast high for today is 96 degrees and the record high is 97 set back in 1914.

It will be very hot and humid with scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. The high heat and humidity will make it feel 100-105 degrees.

Please practice heat safety over the next several days because the heat wave won't break until the end of the week on Friday.

Scattered showers and storms will be possible through Thursday as a few disturbances move through. The best chance for showers and storms move in Thursday.

Some may be strong to severe as a front moves into the region. The front may linger on Friday with a better chance of clearing on Saturday.

Right now, Sunday looks to the best day of the week and weekend.
