RAINY WEEKEND
For much of the region, this weekend will be one for the great indoors. Whether your watching tv, a movie or hanging out at the Baltimore Auto Show it beats being outside in the super soaking rains. For some the heavy rain looks to cause problems due to the recent combination of rain/snow and high moisture content in the soil allowing for localized flooding issues.
TIMING & RAIN TOTALS
Multiple storm systems look to bring us a soaker along with above average temperatures. Expect periods of rain with the best chance of heavy rain late Saturday into early Sunday morning. Rainfall totals look to topple 2-4" across the area with localized heavier amounts. Given recent rains and somewhat frozen ground below, there could be some minor localized flooding issues especially in areas of poor drainage.
The rain is much needed across much of Maryland due to the recent severe drought concerns. Before February , this winter was one of the driest on record. Luckily the dust has settled and the rain has arrived to cure up any drought concerns.
Severe weather and high winds will not be a factor this weekend although a few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out Sunday. The main thing we're focused on is the concern for isolated flooding and issues with hydroplaning on the roadways, Please slow it down and allow extra time in your travels over the next 48 hours ahead.
