BALTIMORE — One in nine Marylanders face food insecurity and Regency Furniture wants to help change that.
The company donated a truckload of food to the Maryland Food Bank to help support the non-profit's relief efforts during COVID-19.
WMAR-2 is also teaming up with the Maryland Food Bank for a virtual food drive.
Hundreds of giant boxes filled with thousands of pounds of non-perishable food will help feed the thousands of families who depend on the Food Bank for their meals.
"Especially as a result of the pandemic, we're seeing demands off the charts. We're distributing 70 percent more food than we would under normal circumstances, and so immediate access to food, shelf stable food is extremely important during this process. The food is coming right in our facility and out to our network."
Over the years Regency Furniture has given back through several charity fundraising events.
This food donation is their latest initiative to help the community.
