ORLANDO, Fla. (Ivanhoe Newswire) — According to Harvard Health, the five best exercises are swimming, strength training, tai chi, Kegel exercises, and walking. But last year, the department of health and human services reported that 28 percent of Americans were inactive.
According to the center of disease control, only 23 percent of American adults get the required 150 minutes of exercise. And studies have shown taking a walk or jog for just 15 minutes to an hour can improve anxiety. And Dr. Wael Jaber from the Cleveland Clinic gives the best reason to start now.
“The longer on the treadmill, the lower your mortality,” Jaber said.
Harvard researchers also found that yoga may reduce stress and get better rest. Fire log pose, moon breath and supine twist are just some poses with the most benefit.
And you don’t have to do it alone. A study from Oxford University found that team sports improved mindfulness and mental health the most. Also according to the NIH, strength exercising eases non-acute lower back pain. Partial crunches, wall sits and simply lifting weights can speed up your recovery. So…
“Next time you go see your doctor … ask them for an exercise prescription instead of a pill,” Waber said.
If you like to dance, then take a dance class. According to the researchers from the University of Maryland in Bethesda, dancing can help strengthen your immune system.
And for women with hot flashes, researchers from Liverpool John Moores University learned that exercise can reduce symptoms by just working out on a treadmill or bike for 30 to 45 minutes a day.
